A 22-2 run to start the second half allowed Lourdes to rally from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Judson 71-57 on Saturday morning in the final game of the Lancer Tipoff Classic hosted by Grace held in the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center in Winona Lake, Ind.

The Gray Wolves trailed 36-28 at the break but held the Eagles scoreless over the first 5:39 of the second half while making the big run. Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) and Kadeim Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Marshall H.S.) each scored eight points during the run, making a pair of three-pointers a piece. Lourdes maintained a double figure lead throughout the final 10 minutes of the contest, pushing its advantage up to as many as 19.

“I’m really proud of our second half effort today,” head coach Josh Gibson said following the contest. “We came out flat in the first half and played tentatively, much like yesterday. After halftime, the guys seemed to remember that they are pretty good at this game and played with the measure of confidence that they should every time. We executed much better on offensive and really brought great effort on defense.”

The Gray Wolves fell behind by as many as 12 in the first half, 31-19, with 4:37 to play before the break before going on a 9-2 run late in the period to close the gap. Lourdes shot just 37.9% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, but held Judson to just 33.3% shooting in the second half while making their comeback.

Jones, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led Lourdes with 17 points and nine rebounds while Snow added 14 points. Malik Thurman (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins H.S.) gave the Gray Wolves three players in double figures, just one day after no one reached 10 points, finishing the game with 13 points.

Lourdes held a rebounding advantage for the third straight game, outboarding Judson 38-32 while forcing 17 Eagle turnovers.

Brayden Royse led Judson (2-2) with 13 points while Rashad Grant added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Lourdes (2-1) will travel to Celina, Ohio on Tuesday evening to face Wright State-Lake. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the Auglaize-Mercer County YMCA.
