Lourdes scored 60 points over the final 20 minutes and overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Miami-Middletown 91-73 on Sunday afternoon inside the Boyer Health and PE Center in Orrville, Ohio.
The Gray Wolves had four players finish in double figures for the game, led by Sydney Miller’s (Huntsville, Ohio/Indian Lake H.S.) 17 points, and shot nearly 59% from the floor in the team’s highest scoring output of the year.
Lourdes started slowly, making just 8-of-36 (22.2%) field goals in the first half, and trailed the ThunderHawks 32-31 at the break. The Gray Wolves trailed by as many nine during the opening two quarters before taking a lead late in the stanza before Miami-Middletown hit a go-ahead triple in the closing seconds.
A 6-1 run to close the third gave Lourdes a seven-point advantage, 60-53, heading into the fourth, and the Gray Wolves scored the first seven points of the final quarter to take control of the game. Lourdes never saw its lead get below nine the remainder of the contest.
Tatyana Reynolds (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers H.S.) tallied 14 points while LaTyrah Beasley (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher H.S.) and Christiana Jefferson (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) added 13 points each. Beasley had a double-double, adding a game-high 12 rebounds, while Jefferson finished with nine boards and seven assists.
The Gray Wolves finished with a 52-39 edge on the glass, including a 17-7 edge on the offensive end.
Adrianna Moore led Miami-Middletown (6-5) with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Alexis Shealey added 15 points.
The teams combined to shoot 76 free throws in a game in which players were whistled for a total of 58 personal fouls.
Lourdes (4-5) returns home on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves host Cornerstone in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
