Buffalo Stops Falcons, 74-38, on Saturday in New York

The University at Buffalo used a third-quarter double-digit run to pull away from the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team Saturday afternoon (March 3). The Bulls captured the Mid-American Conference matchup, the regular-season finale for both teams, by a 74-38 final.

UB ends the season as the 2017-18 MAC East Division champion and the No. 2 seed for the upcoming MAC Tournament. The Falcons are seeded 11th for the tourney and will face No. 6 seeded Western Michigan on Monday night (March 5) in Kalamazoo.

On Saturday, the Falcons were within single digits late in the second period, before the hosts scored the last four points to take a 32-20 lead at the half. UB (25-4, 16-2 MAC) then held BGSU scoreless for over six minutes in the third period, scoring 15-straight points to take a 51-24 lead, and BG did not get closer than 25 points the rest of the way.

Autumn Jones led a balanced Buffalo attack with 13 points off the bench, while Cassie Oursler scored 12. Stephanie Reid and Cierra Dillard scored seven points apiece, and Reid had game-high totals of seven assists and five steals.

Sophomore Andrea Cecil and freshman Angela Perry had eight points apiece for the Falcons, and Perry led the visitors with seven rebounds.

The BGSU-WMU game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at University Arena in Kalamazoo.
