Eastwood comes up just short in championship game

CANTON, Ohio (13abc Action News) - CANTON - It was a game that was not to be decided without overtime. In a game for the ages Eastwood suffered its first loss of the season to Wheelersburg 21-14 in the Division V state championship game.

Eastwood (14-1) scored with just 1:30 left in the fourth quarter to surge ahead 14-7 but Wheelersburg (15-0) stormed back to score its own touchdown with 23 seconds left in the game to tie the score at 14.

Wheelersburg scored first in overtime to go up 21-14. Eastwood was driving inside the 10 yard line but then heartbreak struck for the local team. A fumble by sophomore sensation Jaden Rayford ended the game when Wheelersburg recovered the ball to end the game.
