DEFIANCE, Ohio (WTVG) - Everytime the ball leaves Delaney Monnin's hand and scores for Tinora High School, she continues to extend her lead as the all-time kills leader in school history.
"What's different with her is she's obsessed," Tinora Head Volleyball Coach Bretta Hagerty said. "She's obsessed over volleyball."
The outside hitter from Tinora set out this season to break this specific record.
"I wouldn't have been able to do it without our setter or our back row passes because we need every player to achieve that goal," Monnin said.
Hagerty is in her third year as the Rams head coach. Coincidentally, Monnin is a three year starter. That first year as a sophomore starter, Monnin was the hitter for Tinora.
"We have all three hitters as the option, but sometimes when it's not all the way there, Delaney is our go-to," Tinora libero Sydney Grieser. "We set it up to her and she puts it down pretty well."
The stats for Monnin go deeper than just the all-time kills mark.
"She had multiple matches where she was in the 700s for kill efficiency," Hagerty said. "Man, that's a good night. That's efficient, that's working really well."
Now with back-to-back conference titles, the Rams want to keep this ball moving in the post season.
"It was a lot of fun," Monnin said. "It was a lot of hardwork and dedication. It took a lot of years to build up to this (moment)."
