"When I was a kid, I used to watch a weatherman in Baltimore who made television look like fun. I also used to stay up until 2am watching Tom Snyder on the old "Tomorrow" show on NBC in the mid 1970s. He made television look interesting. His mesmerizing interviews of important and fascinating people were intriguing. I also loved baseball and wanted to be a play-by-play announcer for the Orioles.
"Eventually, I worked as a weatherman in Washington, DC for nine years (it WAS fun) and hosted a political talk show on a cable network seen across the nation, like Tom Snyder (and that was VERY interesting). For a time, I was even a sports anchor for one of my stations until they could hire someone with real skills, so in a way, I've done everything I wanted in media.
"My wife Peverley and I now have two beautiful twin boys, Ryan and Connor. Both were born May 30th, 2012 and keep us happily busy and constantly amused.
We also have four cats (Muddy and Winnie are strays; Grace and Maggie are adopted). For six years, I was a member of the board of directors for a terrific animal adoption/spay/neuter group called Planned Pethood and Peverley and I support a great free-roam, no-kill cat shelter in Defiance, OH called Friends of Felines (check out their 24/7 webcam). I am also involved in children's issues dealing with literacy.
"I've been involved with the Rotary Club of Sylvania, tutored with Ohio Reads and volunteered with the Exchange Club. I am also a member of the Toledo chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and even have a realtor's license.
"I'm a proud Maryland Terrapin (Fear the Turtle) and a Baltimore Ravens fan. My favorite spot in the world is Assateague Island on Maryland's eastern shore with its Piping Plovers, Horseshoe Crabs and Wild Ponies."
