For nearly 20 years 13abc viewers have turned to Susan Ross Wells for news and information. Susan co-anchors 13abc Action News at Noon with Jeff Smith and 13abc Action News at 5:30 with Kristian Brown. She also covers health and medical issues for the station, researching and reporting on new technology and treatments available at Toledo-area hospitals.
She has anchored award-winning news coverage through the years, including a broadcast from Kennedy Space Center of Senator John Glenn's return to space in 1998.
She and the station received the Ohio Public Citizen Award for her series of medical reports on colon cancer in conjunction with the Lucas County Colorectal Cancer Coalition.
Susan has also reported extensively in recent years on the accelerated aging disease Progeria, with the diagnosis of two area children with the rare condition.
She believes strongly in the value of community involvement and has given her time to countless causes through the years.
She is currently a board member of the Progeria Research Foundation Ohio Chapter and the March of Dimes Northwest Ohio Chapter. Susan also donates her time to The Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio, Josina Lott Residential and Community Services and The Victory Center Cancer Wellness Center in Toledo. Susan also supports the Lucas County Colorectal Cancer Coalition, and has supported Partners in Education as a student tutor, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation local chapter and is a former board member at the Bethany House shelter for battered women and their children.
