The Village of Dundee has busy been cleaning up after this week's flooding.
It started raining around 2:00 Sunday afternoon in the Village of Dundee. Officials say at this point the rain is not causing any more flooding. Firefighters say if the rain continues, crews will position emergency vehicles on both sides of the River Raisin, which divides the community in half.
In fact, crews actually closed the M-50 bridge to traffic this week when the river flooded. The water never went over the bridge, but the intense surge of water pressure along the sides prompted the Michigan Department of Transportation to close it to traffic.
After an inspection, the bridge reopened Saturday afternoon. Now, officials and residents are hoping the rain holds off so the village doesn't face this problem again.
Just in case, some are preparing for the worst. "We aren't going to have near the amount of the stuff we had in there before. We are going to make sure we have carpet we can pull up in pieces. No furniture and any items we store will be in totes so we can easily grab them so we aren't caught off guard," says Travis Havens.
At this point, the M-50 bridge over the River Raisin remains open to traffic, as well as all other roads.
