It has been a very unusual winter with very little snow in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.  That's about to change.

A winter weather advisory is posted for the area beginning at 5:00pm Friday and continuing through Saturday morning.

Snow will begin falling late Friday and intensify during the evening hours.

As of Noon Friday, no cancellations had been posted but it could be a challenging drive home for many high school basketball fans attending Friday night games.

Slippery road conditions are expected to develop and 13abc Meteorologist Jay Berschback is expecting three to four inches of accumulation in most spots by Saturday morning.  13abc's First Warning Storm Team, with more than 100 years of combined forecasting experience, is monitoring the winter weather closely and will make adjustments to the projections as needed.

Meantime, travel in Toledo early Friday was slow due to the light snowfall left from Thursday's snow event.  Some crashes were reported although there were no significant injuries reported.

While Northwest Ohio and most of the remainder of the Buckeye State is under a winter weather advisory, several counties in eastern Ohio are under a winter storm warning.  That's because a quarter inch of ice may combine with as much as four inches of snow.  The National Weather Service says areas under the winter storm warning will experience extremely hazardous conditions.
