Federal, state and local law enforcement officials are coming together this afternoon to announce an indictment related to the searches last year to several IHOP restaurants in Northwest Ohio and Indiana.
The FBI indicted employees from six IHOP locations in the area Wednesday for charges including money laundering, wire fraud, aggravated theft and harboring illegal aliens.

A European company has expanded into Northwest Ohio, bringing new jobs to Hancock County. It's called Hamlet Protein and it's based in Denmark. The official grand opening of the Findlay operation is next week, but production has been underway at the plant since early January
Hamlet Protein makes a feed additive that's used for various livestock, like pigs and chickens. It's mainly given to young animals to help their delicate stomachs adjust to life after they're weaned.
Hamlet protein sells it's products in 50 countries around the world. The animal feed supplement is made from soy beans, Ohio's biggest crop. Soren Bank is the Chief Commercial Officer of Hamlet Protein, "What we fundamentally do is apply a certain bio-technology process to soy bean meal that makes soy protein more digestible for animals that means more efficient production if you are a pig farmer or a chicken farmer."
Until now Hamlet Protein's only base of operation was in Denmark. When company leaders decided to expand they looked at dozens of sites around the Midwest and once they decided to open the facility in Findlay, Bank says things happened quickly, "We made a decision to invest here less than a year ago and we're now in operation."
So why Findlay? Bank says there were several reasons, including the number of soy bean crops in the region and the workforce, "We're convinced we chose the right location. We have the raw materials, the right business environment, we have the right people and we can serve our customers easily from here so, it's a great location."
The plan is to employ about 20 people in Findlay, "We have room for expansion here. We could easily double our capacity and could even triple it with minor modifications of our building and if that happens we may need more people."
Tony Iriti is the former mayor of Findlay. He now heads up Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development, "I was fortunate to be able to travel to Denmark to see the country and see the facility and it fits with the kind of company we like to have here in Findlay. We've always gone after the smaller businesses with the opportunity to grow and expand."
The feed additives made at the Findlay plant will go to Hamlet customers in North America, but there is a possibility the Findlay product will be exported to Asia in the future. The grand opening of Hamlet Protein is next Friday and the Danish Ambassador to the United States is making the trip to Hancock County for the ceremony.
On a side note, according to Mr Iriti, business is booming in the Findlay area. The last vacant industrial building in Hancock County is about to be filled. Impressive news in the recovering economy.
