    Toledo Police tell 13abc that there has been an arrest made in the Bricker Avenue fatal shooting Wednesday, May 23.

Most Toledoans seem to agree, it's not easy driving the city's deteriorating streets.  Resident Dewayne Brown said, " I wouldn't say its very good. You definitely have to watch where your driving. You may have to make a little curve here to avoid that bump."

But thanks to a proposal from Mayor Bell's administration, it will be smoother ride down some of the bumpiest roads.  Toledo city councilman George Sarantou said neighborhoods all over Toledo will get streets fixed.  The project was a long time coming, but the city's financial situation over the last few years hasn't allowed them to make the repairs.

"If we wanted to keep our police and fire officers on duty, we had to give up other things and one of them was street paving," Sarantou added. 

Fixing all the roads as planned will take about two years and cost about $28 million this year and another $31 million for projects next year.  But because Toledo has paid off bonds on the docks and parking garages early, the city is in a position to finance a majority of the project, at record low interest rates.  "We're not doing anything that's dangerous," said Sarantou.

Another plus for residents is the fact that both residential and major roadways will get attention.  The next step is the bidding process.  The quicker that gets done, the quicker roads will be fixed.
