TOLEDO, Ohio -

More than 280 families will shop for free thanks to your gracious donations. The Cherry Street Mission's "Clothing Your Community" drive met its goal. From shirts to shoes to purses... gently used items are transforming the lives of local families. The Cherry Street Missions Life Bridge Center kicked off its clothing give away Friday.

33-year-old John Armstrong, his wife, 2 girls and mother-in-law came to get some much needed items for the family. "Kids come in here and get there toys we can get out clothes and get them clothes. We try to do what we can when we come her an when we leave whatever don't fit the kids we bring it back and re-donate it," John says.

The mission says people from all over Northwest Ohio donated more than 50-tons of clothing during its annual Clothing Your Community drive. The clothing bank is located in the old Banner Mattress building. Families got 30 minutes and a personal shopper to help them look for much need items.

Roz Goodwin from the Cherry Street Mission says, "Its extremely heart wrenching to see. People are extremely grateful. Lots of people are going through difficult times right now, and just to be able to get something you need and it's free. On top of that, it is a tremendous blessing and it makes us feel good to be able to help."

13abc and other business were proud sponsors of the clothing driving. It's a drive that's helping families find happiness in the midst of hard economic times. You can donate to the clothing bank throughout the year. It's open to the community on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays to shop. All you have to do is contact the United Way at 211 to schedule an appointment.
