Walleye win in overtime against the Cyclones

TOLEDO -- Kyle Rogers netted the overtime winner for Toledo, as the Walleye fought back for a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Sunday afternoon at the Huntington Center. Toledo now stands at 22-23-2-2 overall this season and 12-12-0-2 at home.

Toledo and Cincinnati skated to a scoreless first period. The Walleye sent 10 shots at Cyclones goaltender Brad Fogal. Goaltender Alec Richards stopped all six shots from Cincinnati.

The Cyclones would break the scoreless tie at the 2:52 mark of the second period after Robert Slaney snuck a puck behind Richards.

Walleye forward Todd Griffith tied the game up at 1-1 after taking a perfect pass from Andrej Nestrasil and rifled a shot behind Fogal. Defenseman Matt Krug was given the second assist on the goal that came at 14:38 of the middle period.

Dan Eves answered right back for Cincinnati, putting a shot through the pads of Richards to take a 2-1 lead at the 15:30 mark of the second period.

Toledo registered 12 shots on goal in the second period for a two period total of 22.

Nestrasil would put home a pass from Paul Zanette at 11:39 of the third period to tie the game up at 2-2. Forward Harrison Reed also picked up an assist on the power play goal.

Captain Kyle Rogers put the game away at 4:18 of the overtime period, giving Toledo a 3-2 win. Assists on the goal went to forward Joey Martin and defenseman Joey Ryan.

-Walleye goaltender Alec Richards stopped 24 of 26 shots on goal and is 4-0-0-0 on the season.
-Toledo is on a season high four game winning streak.
