Boy, 11, pulled over speeding in stolen car

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, New York -

A little boy in eastern New York landed himself in a heap of trouble after police say he stole a car and took it for a joyride.

Police say an officer pulled the car over after noticing it speeding Sunday night just south of Albany.

The officer soon found out the driver was an 11-year-old boy, and the car had been reported missing in Albany the day before.

Police don't believe it was the boy's first time driving.

Greenbush Police Chief Christopher Lavin was at a loss for words. "How he was able to manage... I... Perhaps he has more experience behind the wheel than we know."

A local news station reports the boy has been in trouble with the law before. He was already reportedly facing charges of criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property.

It's unclear what if any charges the boy will face in connection with his latest run-in with police.
