A congressional
candidate did the Main Street
shuffle Saturday. Democrat Graham Veysey took a road trip in his race for the
9th District congressional seat, meeting with business owners in four towns.
Veysey met on Main Street in each
of their towns, making his last stop in Toledo.
Veysey toured small
shops in the Warehouse District, as well as uptown. He talked to owners about a
number of concerns like sales, expansion and tax
With just under three
weeks until the state's primary election, the revamped congressional map has
candidates campaigning at full speed.
Veysey toured shops in Vermillion,
Sandusky, Port Clinton, and made a final stop in
the Glass City.
He talked to owners
about their struggles and frustrations, something he says his opponents haven't
done.
On Super Tuesday, voters
will have to make a choice between Veysey and longtime members of Congress
Marcy Kaptur and Dennis Kucinich.
Veysey says the new 9th
Congressional District needs a new face.
"People are hungry
for fresh ideas and a fresh face," he says. "All along the north coast we've
gotten great reception, and I really think we're going to pull off an upset on
March 6, just 17 days away."
Business owners who
talked with Veysey tell us they were pleasantly surprised with his visit.
Veysey will be back in Toledo on Tuesday to talk
about poverty.
