Mich. woman texting while walking falls of pier

SAINT JOSEPH, Mich. -

A woman in Michigan learned a chilly lesson about the perils of texting while walking.

Police in Saint Joseph say the 45-year-old fell into Lake Michigan as she was walking on a pier sending text messages.

The temperature on the beach was in the 70s, but the water was only around 45 degrees.

The woman was fully dressed and fought to tread water until a bystander jumped in and pulled her to safety.
