New Orleans is a city that has been on my bucket list to visit for a very long time. I am excited to say I checked it off my list this past weekend, and, I have to say, what better time to visit such a brilliant city than during the NCAA Men's Final Four!
Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, and Kansas fans filled the streets from morning to night with lots of cheers, chants, and signs showing their support for their respective universities.
Now, if you've never had the chance to visit New Orleans, the city known for its mosaic culture, food, and music, it's an experience I highly recommend. Beignets, Jambalaya, and Gumbo rank high on the menu for tastes to consume, and trust me, they are "must tastes."
However, don't shy away just yet, they have just about everything else to offer if seafood isn't your thing.
Royal, St. Louis, and Canal are of a few of the many streets in New Orleans that own attractions such as shopping, coffee, and food. But what I am sure you are probably asking yourself, 'What about that street everyone talks about in New Orleans: Bourbon Streeet?'
Yes, Bourbon Street. How could I forget? The street, which is blocked off nearly every day, features side-by-side bars, hot dogs and pizza vendors on every corner, plus every genre of music you can think of. Bourbon street is something you have to experience for yourself. There is just something about it that is uniquely New Orleans.
I will conclude with saying: I am a Buckeye fan and not a happy one. Leaving New Orleans would have been much better knowing that I could watch my Buckeyes play one more time upon my return home.
Still, all in all, from the day I landed at the New Orleans airport, to the time I touched back down in Detroit, my experience was an unforgettable one. And it's a trip that I think is well worth anyone's time.
