It has been a slow severe weather season up to this point, but this weekend will be the busiest of the season so far. There were more than 20 tornado reports on Saturday and over 200 severe reports totals.

The 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially starts June first. This week, Dr. Phillip Klotzbach and Dr. William Gray at Colorado State University issued their yearly extended range forecast for the upcoming season. The forecast predicts the season to have reduced activity compared with the 1981-2010. The forecast calls for 10 named storms, 4 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes (Cat 3, 4 or 5). The 1981-2010 average is 12 named storms, 7 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes.
