New food & beer at Fifth Third Field

TOLEDO, Ohio -

Baseball fans heading to Friday's home opener for the Toledo Mud Hens will notice a few changes at Fifth Third Field this year.

There are a few healthy items on the menu, but most people don't go to the ball park to diet.  There is a new hot dog designed by 13 ABC's Jay Berschback.

As the grounds crew gets Fifth Third Field ready for opening day baseball, we got our stomachs ready for ball park food.

The first thing you'll notice walking through the concourse: new dining stations, including the Hen & Hound Eatery & Pub.

"It has that feel of the warehouse district, the old storefront look with the wood trim," says Craig Nelson, President of Concessions for the Toledo Mud Hens.

Garlic fries are a new item on this menu.

There are also two new beers available.

Fifth Third Field now carries Yuengling. Plus, at the Hen & Hound, you can get the Broken Bat Lager, a draft beer you can only buy at Fifth Third Field.

"One of our partners here locally, Maumee Bay Brewing, they approached us and said we want to brew a beer for you guys at the Mud Hens," says Nelson.

There are a few healthy items on the menu, including fruits and vegetables, granola bars, and trail mix.

But if you're looking for something with a few calories, try the Mexican Hen Dog at the El Burrito Misterio dining station.  It's a hot dog cooked up by 13 ABC meteorologist Jay Berschback.

"It's already been well received on the Tiger game just a couple days ago.  So it's going to take off for sure.  We've added new hot dogs before and everybody wants to try it," says Nelson.
