Kristi Leigh has just joined the 13abc Action News team, but she is no stranger to the Toledo area news market and its surrounding areas.

She grew up right outside of Toledo, in Maumee. While working in the family financial advising business during her college years, she used that experience to implement a business section for her hometown newspaper, The Maumee Mirror. She was also an editor and reporter for her college newspaper; The BG News at Bowling Green State University.

Kristi Leigh quickly transitioned from print to television news. She was very involved with her campus TV news station, BG 24 News, where she served as a reporter, an anchor and a producer. She won many awards such as Reporter of the Year, Best Anchor and Best Package. She even won the Outstanding Broadcast Student Award from the department of journalism at BGSU.

Also while in school, Kristi gained broadcast experience at an internship with WTOL and then an internship at WLIO in Lima, where she received several on-air experiences, including lead stories.

Outside of school, her photojournalism experience enabled her to do a video package for a financial firm that was later used as part of a successful television advertisement. She also created a short documentary regarding real estate on the Island of Roatan, Honduras.

Throughout all of her outside experiences, Kristi remained dedicated to her academics, maintaining a 4.0 in her journalism sequence and graduating Magne Cum Laude.

Before landing her first official TV reporting job with WUPW, Kristi worked with WTO5, Toledo's CW. She voiced and appeared in several commercials, hosted local events and an infomercial, and co-hosted the 2008 LIVE BCSN/WT05 simulcast of The Red White and Kaboom fireworks.

Kristi has also dabbled in radio, co-hosting and writing for the Financial Coach Show on WSPD.

When not reporting for 13abc Action News, you can find Kristi helping out in her family business or she's home with her three young children.

Kristi Leigh would love to hear from you at Kristi.Leigh@13abc.com
