TOLEDO, Ohio -

West Toledo streets were crowded with runners taking part in the Glass City Marathon Sunday morning.

Nearly 6,000 people braved the cold to run the Medical Mutual Glass City Marathon, the Owens Corning Half-Marathon, the 5k, or the relay race.

"Smiles all around," said marathon organizer Clint McCormick. ‘It's a real humbling experience for me to be able to pull it all together. We've got a crew of about 1,000 volunteers to help us out here today"

Matthew Folk came out as the men's winner for the third time. Jessica Odoric was first among the women.

But for many, the races were about much more than winning. Many set personal goals, and runners of all ages joined in.

75-year-old Ann Fleck met her personal goal for the race.

"I'm proud and happy that I outlasted all my friends that started when I started," she said with a smile.

Some ran for their own causes.

"We're ‘Team Miller' in honor of Specialist Chris Miller who is deployed to Afghanistan," said Konnie Burke, whose daughter ran in the marathon. "We all miss him so much. He's been gone for 15 weeks now.'

Brittany Miller ran the marathon for the first time in honor of her deployed husband.

The race raises money for autism research and support and for Habitat for Humanity.

McCormick says they raised at least $50,000 Sunday.
