If you're making dinner reservations for this weekend, you might want to hold the phone. First, get the real dirt from health inspectors.
East of Chicago Pizza on Heatherdowns, during its last standard inspection, had 14 violations, including 6 repeats.
The dish machine was not dispensing chlorine. The buffet cooler was not turned on, so employees threw out the food and the health inspector saw moldy pop nozzles and a moldy ice machine
13abc contacted the owner. He declined our offer for a comment.
Health inspectors noted this next place had the most violations of any restaurant so far this year -- The Hungry Eye on Renaissance Place had 21 violations, including 10 critical.
Gnats at the bar is a repeat violation. They found a container of spinach dip dated 18 days prior to the inspection. Employees then threw it out. And a bottle of mouth wash above to-go condiments. Inspectors also noted, employees threw that out, too.
The manager tells 13abc, "Everything's been rectified. Some things were overlooked by staff, but everything's been rectified … I feel bad about it, but it's all taken care of."
Now the restaurants with no violations -- starting with Tony's Cones and Coneys on West Laskey.
And Five Guys Burgers and Fries in the Westgate shopping plaza at Central and Secor passed with flying colors.
Here are some other restaurants with no violations.
MacQueen Orchards on Garden Road in Holland, Jug's Bowling Center on Jackman, the Taco Bell at 3302 West Central, Netty's on Dorr Street, Shuckers in Swanton and the Coffee Gallery in Waterville.
All of these were violation free during the last standard health inspection.
