10-year-old’s birthday wish to help young girl with Progeria

Posted: Updated:

A 10-year-old girl is reminding everyone that it's better to give than receive. Gracie Oakes is celebrating her 10th birthday by holding a fundraiser party for Carly Kudzia.

Carly is one of only 18 children in the US with the age-progression disease Progeria.

Instead of wanting presents, Gracie asked her friends and family to bring donations for Carly.

"Gracie also has a very rare liver disease," says Gracie's mother, Leslie Oakes. "She has been in the hospital and understands what it is to be sick. I think she can relate to Carley, and we're very proud of her."

All the money raised will go to the Progeria Research Foundation. For more information go to progeriaresearch.org
