2 BGSU crash survivors recovering at home

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -

It's been just more than three months since a wrong-way crash on I-75 killed three BGSU sorority sisters on a spring break trip.

Two other students, Kayla Somoles and Angelica Mormile, survived the fiery crash that morning. They continue to recover after undergoing multiple surgeries.

Somoles had to learn how to breathe and talk again. Mormile was just recently able to remove her neck brace.

Both are back home now, but rehab is part of their daily lives.

They say they still don't understand why the driver who caused the wreck was going the wrong direction.

"I always wonder, you know, like, why did this happen to us? Or if we could've stalled a minute later? I think about that every day," says Mormile.

"I do get upset, but I had a lot of anger when I was first in the hospital toward the woman," says Somoles. "But I just realized that you can't have anger for something that we couldn't control. My driver was not at fault for anything, and she saved me and my friend Angelica's lives."

Both girls will return to BGSU in August. Somoles is pursuing a career in education. Mormile is studying broadcast journalism.
