A serious accident put two people in the hospital and closed northbound I-475 Sunday afternoon. A father and his teenage daughter are hospitalized at St. Vincent's after their car slammed into the back of a trailer coming up to the construction zone on the bridge over the Maumee River.
The accident shut down the highway for hours and has the man fighting for his life on this Father's Day
Police say Roderick Munro of Grand Rapids, Michigan was behind the wheel when he slammed into the back of a pick-up truck hauling a trailer.
"It was raining at the time," says Perrysburg Police Sergeant Patrick McGuire. "We don't know if he didn't see the stopped traffic. It doesn't appear that there was much braking, so that is why there was so much damage and such serious injuries."
Traffic was backed up for miles, and many drivers were parked on the road for hours.
Munro is in critical condition Sunday night. His 17-year-old daughter Kaylee is in serious condition.
