The community is grieving the tragic death of a 2-year-old who drowned in a swimming pool. Police have released the frantic call from the grandfather who searched for the child.
We decided not to air the more heartbreaking portions of the call, but you can still you hear the urgency in the grandfather's voice
Dispatcher: Oregon Police and Fire
Caller: I was taking a shower, and my grandson got out of the house, and I can't find him.
Dispatcher: How old is he?
Caller: He's two.
Police say the 2-year-old liked to open and close doors. The toddler's grandfather searched for the boy.
Dispatcher: I drove around the block and didn't see him, and I looked all through the house. I thought he might have hurt himself.
Caller: Sure
Dispatcher: But I don't see him anywhere.
Caller: I'm going to start walking down the street yelling for him.
Dispatcher: OK
Police, firefighters, and dozens of neighbors frantically looked for the toddler Monday afternoon, but 45 minutes after the call, their worst fears were realized.
2-year-old Frasier Burt drowned after he fell into a neighbor's pool.
Police say they don't know exactly how the child got into the neighbors backyard. The investigation into the boy's drowning is ongoing.
