The best slugger in the International League is going international. The Tigers released Brad Eldred, clearing the way for him to sign with a Japanese baseball team.
Eldred was supposed to play last night for the Mud Hens, but when he was scratched from the lineup, it raised questions. Today, the Tigers confirmed the decision to release Eldred.
Eldred is married with two young daughters, and he has spent the majority of his career collecting minor league paychecks. He'll have the opportunity to make more money in Japan, much like former Mud Hens slugger Mike Hessman.
