The 2012 College World Series Cinderella Team is: Kent State

Posted: Updated:

You better not blink too much during this year's College World Series.

The winner might just "Flash," right before your eyes (no pun intended).

The Kent State Golden Flashes are this year's Cinderella team.

It did not start out that way. They suffered an opening loss to Arkansas.

But they haven't turned into pumpkins just yet.

Kent has everything it takes to be  champs.

And so as the run for a title progresses, the fairy tale for KSU continues.

You can accuse me of being biased because I am a MAC alum, but the facts speak for themselves.

Kent State has a starting pitcher, David Starn, who can compete with the best of the best.

And they have a bullpen throwing with all the confidence in the world after that 5-4 win over tourney favorite, Florida.

Oh, and with an anchor behind the plate, David Lyon, the ball rarely gets past the plate.

Or past short stop Jimmy Rider, up the middle.

So, obviously execution right now for the Golden Flashes is stellar.

But as I was catching up on my twitter feed the other day, I came across this tweet:

"RT: 2010-11 baseball operating expenses: Florida $1,038,144, Kent State $107,162. Money doesn't buy everything."

I instantly got goose bumps.

Kent State may have what it takes to win some games position wise, but deep down in their heart, they have what it takes to survive!!!!
