Special dockets to be certified by Ohio's high court

Posted: Updated:
OHIO -

The Ohio Supreme Court is expected to certify special dockets next year.

Judges in more than half of Ohio counties already use special dockets to deal with drug addicts, veterans or drunken drivers.

Advocates say judges can better cater to those in court by ordering people to get treatment... rather than jail time.

However, the defendants must plead guilty to their crimes.

Beginning in 2013, courts will have to offer treatment and supervision.
