The Wood County Sheriff's Office says there has been a rash of scrap metal thefts in the area. According to authorities, people are trespassing on private property, stealing metal and selling it to turn a quick profit at area scrap yards.
Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn says some suspects think it's a victimless crime, but his office takes it very seriously.
The sheriff says deputies have set up several hidden cameras across the county and are actively investigating.
