WOOD COUNTY, Ohio -
Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire on County Road 45 in Wood County just before 7:00 Wednesday morning.
The homeowners were able to make it out safely. Crews on the scene say it started in a ceramic fire pit that was not fully extinguished.
"They were burning that last night, they thought they had it out, went to bed, woke up this morning when they smelled smoke," says James Smith, of the Bradner Fire Department.
We're told this home is a total loss. Officials say it was a blaze that took multiple departments to extinguish.
"We immediately put a call out to four departments that cover this township, which is Bradner, Rising Sun, Kansas, Helena and we also called in Gibsonburg and Wayne," says Smith.
The fire chief estimates about $150,000 worth of damage. The family says they plan to rebuild.
