The 2012 US Olympic Games in London

Posted: Updated:

Since sports have always been a huge part of my life, I would always dream.

I would dream about winning championships, hitting the game winning shot, or making the biggest race comeback in the pool.

One thing some people might not know about me is that I was the biggest Amy Van Dyken fan growing up.

Van Dyken was a US Swimmer who won 4 Gold medals in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and then won 2 Gold Medals, just 4 years later, in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

I always wanted to experience the same vision she did: standing on the starting blocks, cap on, goggles on, preparing for the biggest race of her life at the Olympic Games.

But unfortunately, I never experienced that vision.

So instead of sulking, I try to enjoy watching the Olympic Games.

And this summer, might be the best experience yet.

As the 2012 US Olympic Games begin this year from London, make sure you have your radar on for two Toledo athletes.

Erik Kynard, a 2009 Rogers High School graduate, cleared 7-feet-5 3/4 inches in the High Jump of the Olympic Trials and quickly discovered he was going to London as a part of the USA Team.

Natalia Gaitan, a Senior on the Soccer team at The University of Toledo, will be competing in her second trip to the Olympics as a co-captain for the Colombia Soccer Team.

I don't know about you, but for me, just a CHANCE to be a spectator at any Olympic Games would be incredible.

But the thought of having a chance to actually compete on one of the biggest stages in the world, like these two, I am speechless.

I guess I know what events I will be paying close attention to this summer.

What about you?
