16 years for Ohio trucker in crash that killed 3

WARREN, Ohio -

WARREN, Ohio (AP) - A judge has sentenced an Ohio truck driver to 16 years in prison following his conviction on criminal charges in a crash that killed three Marine Corps recruits and injured nine others.

About 80 people attended the sentencing of 46-year-old Donald Williams Jr. in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, including surviving family members and one crash victim who suffered a spinal fracture.

The Warren Tribune-Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/LifOpg ) that Williams received the sentence Wednesday after pleading guilty to several charges, including three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.

Judge Andrew Logan also suspended Williams' license for life.

The March 31, 2010 accident happened when Williams rear-ended the car of 3 Marine Corp recruits headed to Cleveland to finalize their enlistment.

Records indicated that Williams had taken large amounts of sedatives.
