Kaptur pleased, Latta disappointed in decision

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

In a landmark decision the Supreme Court upheld President Obama's Affordable Care Act. That means all Americans are required to carry health insurance.

Everyone in Washington is talking about the political ramifications of the decision. The health care issue is expected come up time and time again on the campaign trail and in the halls of Congress.

Local lawmakers had mixed reactions to the decision.

Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur said, "I think that this really lifts president Obama as we move forward."

Republican Representative Bob Latta had a different reaction. "A lot of things that come out of Congress … the majority saying they don't want this"

When asked about his reaction to the decision made by the Supreme Court, Congressman Latta again stressed that the Affordable Care Act has been unpopular with many Americans, but Congresswoman Kaptur said she's prepared to quiet any worries from her constituents.

"I'm very. very disappointed," Latta said. "They don't want this law."

Marcy Kaptur said. "For every family that's out there… health insurance coverage in the future."

The decision doesn't mean the fight over health care is over. Less than an hour after the Court announced its decision, house leaders said they will be voting on a full repeal of the health care law soon.
