Severe weather damage

A line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing destructive winds in excess of 75 mph moved across the region Friday afternoon causing damage in several communities.

According to Defiance County Sheriff's Office, the west end of Defiance County near Hicksville has suffered widespread damage storms including uprooted trees due to extreme winds.

Power outages were reported across several counties. AEP reports that 15,000 are without power in Hancock County and 20,000 in Allen. Thousands more are also without electricity across the region.

According to the Henry County EMA, all of Deshler is without power. No injuries or damage reported.

A representative of the Hcksville Water office says there is considerable damage in Hicksville.

Power lines are down which knocked electricity out in part of the village. Trees and power lines are down and some streets are impassable.

Some cars were damaged. So far, no reports of injuries. On Edgerton street, a tree fell on a house.

Julie Rittenhouse of the Defiance EMA also requsts that  people stay off the roads in the Village of Hicksville.  Trees are on home and blocking streets.  No injuries have been reported at this time.

Paulding County EMA reporting widespread damage all through the county. 

Winds of 84 mph.  Reports of funnel aloft, but no reports of touchdowns. 

A semi was blown over on Route 60 and a barn destroyed southeast of the Village of Grover Hill. Farm equipment and tractors were also blown over at that location.  No injuries are reported.
