Workers and heat

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Some local workers have a tough job to do in extreme heat.  If you think it's hot outside wait until you step inside a local dry cleaner. We spent the day at Lasalle Cleaners. These employees endure heat everyday.

"It's very hot and it wears you out very much. when you leave here you're wore out for the rest of the day," says 60-year-old Patricia Mcguire who  has worked as a presser for Lasalle Cleaners for 15 years. She admits it's tough standing over machines that pump out steam.

"You're hoping when they come in with the baskets they don't bring you very much."

Owner Rachael Resnik admits it's uncomfortable.

"It feels like a sauna it feels. Like a 110 to 115 in here when you're in here all day long and you're sweating, it"'s really difficult"

Friday afternoon it was 91 degrees outside, but  99 degrees  inside Lasalle Cleaners. As you go further back it gets hotter.   Temperatures read 106 degrees and 107 degrees as we moved throughout the sweltering dry cleaners There's no air conditioning at all, just we fans that blow around the hot air.

But workers say you get used to the heat after working in it.
