TOLEDO, Ohio -
On
Thursday, July 5, 2012, another line of deadly storms ripped through Northwest Ohio, this time affecting our local neighbors.
Powerful winds brought down trees, twisted power lines, and broke a
transmission line. Homes, cars and property have been damaged, and over 21,000
people are still without power in Lucas
County alone. With so
much damage and debris, power is not likely to be restored for several days in
many areas. Temperatures are expected to reach over 100 degrees this weekend
and our neighbors are in great need of assistance. ISOH/IMPACT is prepared to
respond, but needs your donations of money and supplies to help those who have
been affected.
In addition to monetary donations to assist with the relief
effort, immediate needs include bottled water, tarps, flashlights, D-batteries,
and portable generators.
You can
also help by joining the Bucket Brigade, registering to volunteer at our
distribution center in Waterville, OH, or by making a monetary donation to
support ISOH/IMPACT's ongoing mission of Reaching Out & Serving Others in
their time of need.
To be a
part of The Bucket Brigade, simply fill a new 5-gallon lidded bucket with
cleaning supplies, personal care items, first aid supplies, pet supplies or
canned and non-perishable food items and drop it off at the nearest collection
site. If you would like to participate in the Bucket Brigade but can't
fill a bucket on your own, a donation of $35 or more will allow ISOH/IMPACT to
fill, ship and distribute a bucket of relief supplies to those in need.
Supplies
that are not in buckets, including paper products, laundry detergent, new
tents, tarps, blankets, sleeping bags, bottled water, brooms, mops, rakes,
shovels, box fans, shop vacs and portable generators, will also be accepted.
**Please,
no glass items or clothing.
Donations can be dropped off at any Toledo area Tireman
Auto Service
Center or at ISOH/IMPACT's
distribution center located at 905
Farnsworth Rd. in Waterville, OH.
There is a P.O.D.S. container* onsite at the Waterville location for 24/7 drop-offs.
For large scale corporate and manufacturing donations, please contact the
ISOH/IMPACT offices to make the necessary arrangements. Monetary
donations can be made online at www.isohimpact.org or sent directly to the ISOH/IMPACT offices at 25182 W. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551. For more information, updates
