City plans to demo 4 unused public pools

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

The City of Toledo plans to demolish four of the public swimming pools in the city. The pools on the list have all been closed for years and the city says making repairs is just too costly.

The city plans on demolishing Collins, Ravine, Ashley and Highland Park pools. The city says damage from thieves and vandals have destroyed the pools beyond repair.

It's been years since those pools were open, many closed due to budget cuts and lack of attendance. There's no timeline for demolition because the city still needs funds. Meanwhile, the city's largest pool, Detwiler is closed this year but the city says they are trying to find a private company to take over management so it could reopen in future summers.
