Outlying counties try to help with storm cleanup

Posted: Updated:

Storm damage still litters a lot of streets and neighborhoods... and Toledo has said homeowners... you're on your own.  Call a contractor if you need your debris cleared however local townships are able to help some people.

Ottawa Hills debris lines the streets and crews are trying to clean up the mess.

Mark Thompson, ottawa hills administrator, explained the process.

"Our process is the citizens get the stuff to the street and we'll clean it up from there."

Springfield Township is cleaning up what *it* can...but for big trees like homeowners are calling contractors and contractors are working overtime.

Sylvania Township will start hauling yard debris on Thursday

Greg Huffman, Sylvania Public Works Department says, "This could easily take 4 to 6 weeks to clear.  We expect it to exceed 200-thousand dollars in clean up."

So while Toledo cannot help with private debris outlying suburbs can help... to a point.
