More than two years ago, a tornado destroyed Lake High School. Wednesday, the new school was almost finished. Classes begin there in six weeeks.
The high school administrators moved in and in a matter of weeks everyone can see the Flyers new home.
Superintendent Jim Witt is keeping the interior of the building under wraps until the big reveal in August but describes the new high school as much more condensed and student friendly. There are top of line chemistry labs and a state of the art auditorium.
Witt says despite the deadly tornado,the new school is a silver lining in the tragedy and a new start for students, who've spent the past two years in a transitional space.
Classes start at the end of August. The new building will have a tribute to all victims who lost their lives in the June 5th tornado.
