SPRINGFIELD TWP., Ohio -
Last week storms tore through neighborhoods destroyed some homes and claimed the life of one person.
Now the community is coming together to help that family through its loss.
Rebecca Bays is a friend of the family and has been organizing several events to help them during this difficult time.
Christopher Zimmerman was killed in Springfield Township when a tree fell on him as he ran to his car during the storm.
This past weekend a car wash at Rudy's Hot Dog raised $1,000 for his family. Now another car wash fundraiser is planned for Saturday.
It'll be at the Advanced Auto Parts on Airport and Holloway from 10am to 6pm. Rebecca says she wants to help as much as possible in any way she can.
" The money is going to the children. I know one of them is in school, he's 7 years old so I would like to do some school shopping, schools supplies for him, the other one is 4, she's not in school. Just to get them on their feet and help out as much as we can for the family with financial needs."
A trust fund has been set up for the children as well. If you can't make it out to the car wash you can donate at any Key Bank location.
There are several other fundraisers for the family in the works. If you would like to get involved and help out, contact Rebecca Bays at 419-250-7977
