The friends and family of a Toledo man pulled from the rubble after an apartment fire in January had a candlelight vigil Friday to remember 35-year-old Delano Fleming.
Friday January 13th a 2-alarm fire broke out at the Central Colony Apartments. Crews rescued four children from the flames and thought everyone was out. Four hours later the building was torn down with Mr. Fleming's body still inside. Excavators searched the rubble the next day and found the father of four.
The Coroner ruled Fleming's death an accident from smoke inhalation.
The Flemings say they still want an apology from the City and fire department.
In February, a three-page report by fire investigators stated one minute after a crew was sent to search the first floor evacuation orders were given, leaving two apartments unsearched.
Fleming was in one of them.
Overall, the report stated crews performed well and that the search was done by textbook standards.
