It's crazy to think that it has been four years since the USA Basketball Team last won the Gold.
However, it is here.
Reality has set in and this year's roster is loaded with the obvious stars, yet with some shoes to fill without Rose, Wade, and Howard.
They are shoes that have been filled with star-level players and, in my opinion, just enough potential to complete the roster which has great odds of defending that Gold from Beijing.
Without a doubt.
But as there are several critics out there who seem to think those shoes can't be filled, I am scratching my head as to why you think this.
I am sitting here with the rosters in my hand, side-by-side & I can hardly contain myself for this year's Olympic Games
Now, I get it.
Wade was the teams leading scorer after 8 games with 16.
Howard the 5th leading scorer with just under 11.
Those two out of the picture due to injury, and with Rose out...even though he was not a part of the team, it seems like a major loss.
But as the King said it himself before during his quest to win that RING (I am not a LBJ fan, just stating the facts here), I have to agree with him: There is NOTHING on this 2012 roster that the USA team DOESN'T have.
10 out of 12 players on the USA Basketball Team were in the 2012 play-offs.
Out of those 10, 7 made it to at least the second round.
Now I might be going out on a limb when saying this, however I see Tyson Chandler handling Howard's role.
Howard was a beast - I get it.
Chandler was the 2012 Defensive player of the year though. He does the dirty work.
You take out Rose and have guys like Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul. Name another eligible player besides your injured Rose who, right now, couldn't make the perfect pass with accuracy?
Then there is Durant, new to the squad. I don't even need to elaborate.
These twelve players on this years 2012 roster, will give you the effort, heart, and passion that's the one thing you can be sure of, you don't have to coach that.
It's all about filling the void, and after seeing the roster, I am not sure there is a void anymore!!!!
