Locke and Zuchowksi Selected to Prospect League All-Star Game

TOLEDO, Ohio - Senior RHP Jared Locke and sophomore SS Dan Zuchowski were recently selected starters in the Prospect League All-Star Game. The mid-summer classic took place last Wednesday, July 11 at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, IL. The West All-Stars prevailed in the annual matchup by a score of 10-1.

A member of the Butler BlueSox in the East Division, Locke has tallied a 3-1 record on the mound with a 2.87 ERA in six starts. He has accumulated 37.2 innings of work, allowing 17 runs (12 earned) on 32 hits with 46 strikeouts. The Dundee, MI native currently sits sixth in the league in punchouts and 10th in the league in ERA.

A member of the Chillicothe Paints in the East Division, Zuchowksi is hitting an impressive .333 (40-for-120) with 26 runs scored, 10 doubles, five home runs and 28 RBI. He has appeared in 30 games and tallied 20 walks. The Hamtramck, MI native currently ranks tied for ninth in the league in two-base hits, tied for 15th in roundtrippers, 17th in batting average and tied for 20th in RBI.

In additional baseball news, sophomore RHP Alec Schmenk was recently named the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Pitcher of the Week. A member of the Lake Erie Monarchs, Schmenk allowed four hits with five strikeouts in 6.0 shutout frames in a 14-7 victory against Stark County on Saturday, July 7. Overall this summer, Schmenk has tallied a 3-1 record with a 2.51 ERA in six appearances (five starts). The Perrysburg, OH native has given up eight runs (all earned) on 25 hits with 25 punchouts in 28.2 innings of work.
