Relatives of Blissfield murder victims speaks out

Posted: Updated:

Michigan State Police have confirmed that Thomas Fritz, the man wanted for the murders of two Blissfield Michigan sisters,  is dead this morning after a standoff with police in West Virginia.

The standoff started around 8:15 last night at a home in Tyler County, West Virginia. US Marshals and local police surrounded the home for hours and late last night found Fritz dead inside after apparently shooting himself. It's still unclear why Fritz fled to West Virginia.

Fritz had been on the run from authorities since Friday after allegedly shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend and her sister inside of a Blissfield, Michigan home.

Amy Merrill and Fritz had dated in the past and have a child together. Her sister, Lisa Gritzmaker,24, was eight months pregnant at the time of her death.

Fritz also shot their mother, Robin McCowan. She was airlifted to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

We will continue to follow this developing story and bring you new details as they come in.
