13abc's cameras were rolling when investigators were examining a suspicious device behind Valley Stream Apartments Wednesday afternoon. It turns out it was four aerosol cans taped together.
Safety officials believe someone attempted to make a bomb. For security reasons, the overpass on Garden was blocked off and Valley Stream Apartment residents were evacuated.
Brannon Wurster lives in the apartment complex. He tells 13abc, "He came up to me and he told me there was a possibility of a bomb threat some type of explosion and they were really sure at the time."
Residents waited and wondered about their safety. One resident did get an update. George Tracy also lives in the Valley Stream Apartment complex.
He tells 13abc, "I have a Facebook update from Valley Stream apartment complex...It says to put all of our residents and friends at ease...there has been a minor incident but the matter has been resolved and everything is under control."
Moments later, the Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad, ATF, and Arson investigators were on scene.
They examined the device once again, then the device was detonated and cleared.
Sgt. David Martin tells 13abc, "It turned out to be some aerosols can taped together--why they were taped together we can't answer that...or let you know that but it was disposed of and everything is fine."
So who was behind this possible bomb threat? Sgt. Martin tells 13abc, "It very well could have been neighborhood kids, juveniles playing a prank, we don't know."
Evidence was collected and the investigation continues.
