TOLEDO, Ohio -
A father is refusing to allow his four-year-old daughter, who is recovering from a battle with leukemia, to have her Make-a-Wish come true, but the girl's mother and grandmother are not giving up on her dream.
Mckenna is looking forward to going to Disney World. It's the dream of many little girls, but it's one she started thinking about while being treated for leukemia.
Her grandma says the Make-a-Wish foundation offered to send Mckenna after she suffered through the disease and the chemo.
"When the end of treatment came the next thing to look forward to was trying to put our lives back together over what's been torn apart over the last 26 months. And the Make-a-Wish was the one thing we could enjoy with Mckenna that was gonna make everything go away."
Mckenna was supposed to go to Disney next month, but Make-a-Wish has a policy that both parents need to approve.
Her dad, Bill May, says he wouldn't sign.
"One reason if feel is make a wish donations they receive should be utilized toward terminally ill children, ones that don't live long enough to experience things like Disney Land."
He says he's been told by doctors Mckenna has a 99% chance of survival now. He also says Mckenna's mom and her family were invited, but the invite was not extended to his side of the family.
The girl's mother Whitney Hughes says she told Mckenna, "The people that were paying for your trip can no longer send us, so Mommy and Grandma have to raise the money for you to be able to go, and she said ok, when are we going? And I said I don't know hopefully soon and she said, ok Mommy, I know you'll get me there."
If you want to help Mkenna go to the Magic Kingdom, there is a fund set up at area Fifth-Third bank locations. Mckenna's mom says they plan to donating any extra money to charity.
