Ohio man killed by police responding to burglary
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -
Columbus police say a man who died after reporting a break-in at his
apartment was fatally shot by the officer responding to the call.
Sgt. Rich Weiner says 21-year-old Destin Thomas was shot twice by Officer William Kaufman after Thomas ran outside the building.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Thursday that police initially thought Thomas might have been
shot inside his apartment because of a noise heard on a 911 call he
made.
Weiner says investigators now aren't certain it was a gunshot. Two men are in custody in connection with the shooting Tuesday.
Four Columbus police officers have fired their guns at people in four days in a spate of police-involved shootings.
