Susan Ross Wells' big news

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Susan Ross Wells arrived at 13abc Action News the night that Bill Clinton was elected President of the United States.  Now, nearly 20 years later, Susan has decided it is time for a change.  She has accepted a position as Director of Health Care Marketing at the University of Toledo.  She will primarily work with the University of Toledo Medical Center.

Susan's career at 13abc began when the morning news was expanded here to a full half hour in 1992.  She has anchored mornings, Noon, 5:00pm and 5:30pm during that time winning awards and countless loyal viewers along the way.  Most recently, Susan has co anchored 13abc Action News at 5:30pm along with Kristian Brown.

Her career is filled with highlights.  Among them was her Florida based coverage of John Glenn's return to space in 1998.  More recently, Susan produced exceptional reporting on health and medical matters.  Her medical stories were a result of the deep and sincere caring attitude that her colleagues have known about and appreciated.  She has devoted considerable time and energy to community activities and boards.  Her devotion to organizations including the local Alzheimer's Association and Progeria Research Foundation are well known.  She was recognized with the Ohio Public Citizen Award for her series of medical reports on colon cancer in conjunction with the Lucas County Colorectal Cancer Coalition.

Executive News Director Brian Trauring said, "While we are naturally saddened that Susan will no longer be working in our newsroom, we are thrilled she will still be in Toledo and no doubt in contact with her 13abc colleagues.  This is an exciting opportunity for Susan and we are very proud of her.  We know she will take the same sense of dedication and professionalism to the University of Toledo that she has demonstrated for two decades at 13abc."

You can leave your best wishes for Susan on our Facebook page.
