Crews worked on Live Doppler 13000 Monday, giving us a rare up close and personal look at the only live doppler in the area.
Live Doppler 13000 is the only live radar in Northwest Ohio. At 350,000 Watts, the 14-foot dish is protected by a 17-foot radome.
The radome is the big ball, and it shields the the dish as it circulates.
Normally, Doppler 13000 is perched 150-feet above the ground so it clears the tree line.
Live Doppler 13000 provides the Stormlab and our viewers with the only HD radar information in the area. It sees storms in detail that no one else can see and is a powerful tool for our team of meteorologists.
